Meet the Founder of Bloom Layne: Sarah-Layne
Sarah-Layne is the hands and heart behind Bloom Layne, a floral studio born from a season of healing, reflection, and rediscovered creativity.
After eight years in the corporate world, working in marketing and designing brand materials, Sarah felt something was missing.
In 2024, she made the courageous decision to step away from her career to focus on her wellbeing. During that time, she stumbled across a seasonal flower prepper job through an Instagram ad. The florist was one she had always admired; local, beloved, and familiar.
The role didn’t require experience, only willingness. Sarah applied without hesitation.
From the moment she began working with flowers, something clicked. Floristry gave her the creative freedom she had long been searching for; free from deadlines and structure, and full of texture, colour, and soul. As her hands learned to handle stems and arrange blooms, Sarah realised this wasn’t just a passing interest. It was her path.
In January 2025, her time at the florist came to a close. The sadness she felt at leaving became the spark of something new. She began dreaming of a space that felt like her own.
A name came first: Bloom Layne. Inspired by her own name, a gift from both her parents; her father choosing a biblical name, her late mother honouring her own mother, Elaine. The name holds generations of meaning.
In Sarah’s mind, Bloom Layne evokes a winding footpath through a meadow thick with wildflowers. Soft, gentle, and unforced. It’s a place she often imagines, and it has become her happy place. That imagery now lives at the heart of everything Bloom Layne creates.
Her very first arrangement under the name was for someone she loved dearly; her nanny-in-law, Olive. In the weeks before she passed, Sarah sat by her bedside, bringing her fresh blooms to brighten her room. When the time came to say goodbye, Sarah along with the help of her mother-in-law, Kim, created the floral arrangements for her funeral. That bittersweet beginning will always be one of the most meaningful chapters in her story.
As for where Bloom Layne is headed, Sarah isn’t placing limits. She believes the best things grow organically. For now, she is soaking in the early days, learning as she goes, and creating beauty one bloom at a time.
